For example, Democratic Party leaders last December gave to new members of Congress a written statement and chart on how they are to spend their time. Almost 5 hours a day out of an 8 or 9 hour work day was designated for fund raising. This activity takes place on your payroll dime during hours when lawmakers are paid to do your business. In reality, they and their equally-diverted Republican counterparts work primarily for their big campaign donors - without whom they wouldn't be in or be able to return to office in the first place.
